Happy Tuesday everyone! Today is a day that we will never forget, today is September 11th a day 11 years ago that changed our country. I remember that day very well even though I was only 11 years old. I remember being in elementary school and hearing the teachers talk about the horrific events that happened that day. My teachers looked shocked but didn’t reveal what had happened at first. I am sure they were not sure how to express such an unprecedented event to kids. I remember when they finally told my class what had happened, I was shocked and confused.
As I headed home that day from class I remember watching the news as I got home and just wondering how could this happen? How could anyone do such a terrible act? I remember thinking of all of the families and friends that were affected directly or indirectly. I just couldn’t stop thinking about these things. Then as the afternoon approached I headed off to football practice. There many of my teammates had the same questions that I had. Yet no one had any answers.
As I look back on those events today. I still remember the terrible event, the freedom that a few people took from many. With all of the bad that resulted from 9/11 a few positives did come from it. America come together and offered a helping hand to those in pain in NYC. Countless stories of heroism from people helping one another escape from the towers. People banding together on flight 93 to disrupt the hijackers and prevent further damage. Hundreds of police and firemen who sacrificed their lives in order to save the people they serve. Let us not forget those who lost their lives on this day. Let us not forget those act of heroism or forget how America came together on that day.
I would like to close this post with a thought. Life is fragile. No one know how much time we have while we are here on this earth. Take the time you do have and be thankful for those people you love and care about. I myself am very grateful for those people in my life.
