Time and People

Have you ever thought about time and its infinite possibilities? Seriously have you really taken a moment just to think about how there really isn’t any definite start time or end time. I know there is carbon dating, however man created time and its unit of measure. Tonight I have been pondering just how small of a blip of time we actually experience while we are present on the earth. My motivation behind this article is to inspire thought and action. Personally time is an element that I frequently think about but try my absolute best not to dwell on.

It’s very fascinating to hear other peoples thoughts and beliefs on time and their views on life before birth and after death. Did we exist before birth? Will we continue to exist after death? Personally I think the answer to both of these complex questions is a resounding YES. Its just hard for me to imagine that this life is all we have. I love to think that many people I come into contact with I have already forged a relationship at some point unbeknown to me. For example have you ever just clicked with someone? Have you ever felt that you were meant to be with someone? Someone who seems to know things or understand you without a lot of effort? Personally I have had many people like this in my life. Family is a big part of my life. Seriously I can’t think of a family that fits me better. I have heard parents say that kids just seem right, from the start. Not saying its a perfect match all the time.

As far as people are concerned its interesting to analyze the people who we are accustom to being around. Time is something we all have the same amount of if we are speaking in a vacuum. The riches person in the world has the same amount of seconds in a day as the poorest. I bring this point up to make sure we are spending our time in worth while pursuits. We never know when our time will run out! I am sure there are a many of people who put off a visit home or ignored a phone call, with the simple thought, ” I will see them later or call them back tomorrow.” However sometimes there isn’t a tomorrow to cling to. I find it very perplexing just how often we as a society choose worthless pursuits of money, fame, and selfish ideas.

I want to share with you an analogy that I read this past week. Imagine a magical bank account. You had just won a prize that deposited $86,400 into a private account just for you, however there are a set of rules.

1. Everything you didn’t spend each day would be taken away from you.

2. You cannot transfer this money into any other account.

3. YOU may only spend it!

4. Each morning you awake you find that this bank account is opened with an additional $86,400 for that day.

5. The bank can revoke this prize at any given time.

What would you do? Would you spend it all? Would you choose a worth while goal for this money? Would buy everything and anything?

Well this hypothetical analogy is actually an analogy of time, we are all given 86,400 seconds in a day! It is completely up to you how you will use these valuable seconds. Personally I felt a little guilty upon reading this analogy, why? Well I don’t think I have been grateful enough for what I have been given. I haven’t been grateful enough for the talents and health that has been afforded to me. I find myself too often taking the ones who mean the most in my life for granted. Seriously I have no reason to complain.

I really hope that who ever reads this takes the opportunity to make sure you are making the most of the time that we do have. Surround yourself with great people and good friends. Be grateful if someone wants to spend time with you. I’ve said it before but it’s one of the greatest complements to you that someone else wants to spend their valuable seconds with you. Try and be the type of person who others want to be around. I promise that you will be a happier person in the process. We all have talents and things we can contribute, don’t hold back! There are countless experiences, places, people, and opportunities just waiting for us. Now go out there and make the most of your precious seconds!
