Chandler Parsons
Chandler Parsons is a rising star in the NBA. Not only does Chandler works hard on the court, recently rewarded with a 46 million dollar contract. He also loves to push the envelope with his clothing choices. What does Chandler’s ensemble in the photo say about him? Personally I like the creativity and confidence. He is wearing a floral print shirt paired with jogger/capri pants and bright yellow saddle shoes (Del Toro). Sometimes you have to be confident and bold to wear certain things. Chandler is a trailblazer in the way he pushes the line with some of his fashion choices. I will also partially credit Chandler with my obsession with Stance Socks. He is coming out with his own design that I will most certainly be purchasing!
David Beckham
A giant in the menswear industry, and he wasn’t bad on the pitch either! David Beckham has immaculate style and class. He is equally dapper in a trench/peacoat shown above as he is sporting a pair of moto jeans and leather jacket. The thing that I like about Beckham’s style is how he seems to mesh classy and casual. Many times you can see him dressed in a suit only to tone it down with some beat up boots. He is also great at incorporating a variety of traditional sports wear items into his outfits. For example hoodies, slim sweatpants, track jackets, and sneakers. Beckham is one a select group of athletes that can be recognized across the continents for his skill on the pitch and his reputation in fashion. You may never be able to bend it like Beckham, but you can steal a couple of style moves from him!
Ryan Gosling
Few if any look as stylish as Ryan Gosling, take for example the picture above as he strolls through the airport on the way to Cannes Film Festival. Here is sporting some wayfarer sunglasses, slim fit navy pants, and Gant short sleeve shirt. Notice how he put his own touch on the shirt? Look at the sleeves he casually rolls the sleeves up a touch to give it his own look. Then he adds to this look by wearing some beat up brown boots that puts some character into the whole outfit. You may not look like Ryan but you can take some cues from his style to be a more distinguished you.
Bradley Cooper
What’s not to like about Cooper’s look in the photo above. He does an excellent job of pulling together separate pieces to make his own unique look. The jacket has a bold pattern yet is subdued by a understated shirt, dark knit tie, and a different shade of blue pants. Then he takes things a notch farther with all white sneakers and no socks. This is a look anyone can pull off! All you need is sports coat with a bold pattern then pull it all together with slightly different shades of the same color.
Steve McQueen
“The King of Cool” isn’t a nickname that is simply handed out, it is earned. McQueen gained this title for his acting, calm demeanor, and his rebellious side. McQueen loved to ride motorcycles and race cars, he also played the lead role in many movies that pitted him as a bad ass. Many of his roles are still viewed today because of his reputation alone. As for menswear, McQueen was a trailblazer. He was great at owning his style. He made white pants, a T-shirt, paired with a leather racing jacket a symbol of cool. Then throw in a vintage pair of Steve McQueen Persol’s and you will not find a better go to look. The main thing to take from McQueen is this…Style starts with the man wearing the clothes and not the other way around.
Don’t be afraid to be creative in your style choices, remember confidence allows you to pull off any look. As you look at these five guys they have all taken risks with their clothing choices. I am sure before McQueen wore white pants, there wasn’t many guys who had a pair in their closets. Confession time, the reason why I have a pair of white jeans is because of Steve McQueen. Now go out there and put your best foot forward and have fun with your own personal style.
