Return & Report

Here is a short post to report on how my food drive went. I am very appreciative of the NC Food Bank. They were instrumental  in giving guidelines and information on what items to bring that would yield the greatest help. I also want to say thank you to all of the people who participated at my place of employment SouthTech Orthopedic’s.

I cannot imagine what it would be like to wake up on Christmas morning or any morning for that fact, having to wonder where my next meal would come from. I know a lot of other charities and diseases get more publicity, however; hunger and malnutrition can be just as damaging. Think about the negative consequences that result when a kid does not get the proper nutrition needed to grow physically as well as mentally. It takes a proper diet for a kid to reach their full potential!

How can we expect a kid to do well in school if they are worried about where their next meal will come from? How can we hold a hungry kid to the same standards of someone who has plenty? Maybe a child’s behavior problems stem from malnutrition. I am not writing this article to make anyone feel guilty, it’s  quite the opposite. I hope that I can inspire action. I hope that I can inspire someone to help someone in need. I ask that you stop and think about someone else’s situation before making judgements.

Today I felt the Christmas spirt. As a company we were able to donate 250 pounds of food. It is my desire that this small act can help provide for someone in need. I hope that these donations can ease the minds of parents who stress about providing for their children. A proverb I love from the Book of Mormon reads, ” See that all things are done in wisdom and order, for it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength.” This profound statement should ease the minds of all looking to help others. It doesn’t matter how small or large the act, however; it’s only required that you help someone up to your own abilities. I know that all acts of kindness and assistance make an impact far greater than we can imagine. I hope that we can all make the world a better place for everyone through random acts of kindness. There are countless opportunities to help. The choice to act lies within you!
