The bond between a mom and her son is a unique one. On one hand that mother wants to protect her son from all of life’s perils but on the other must give him enough space to grow into the man that all moms want their son’s to become. I must admit that I have one of the greatest moms a boy could ask for. I say boy because I will always be her boy. I will always be her “best boy Leroy”, she will always tell me that she loves me “to the moon and back” and above all else she made me believe in myself. Some may argue a little too much!
July 1st is my Mom’s birthday and I wanted to take the time to say how much I love her and how thankful I am for all of the sacrifices she has made for me. I seriously think that my Mom’s life mission was to make sure my sister and I had a better life than she did. I want to tell her that while she may think she was imperfect and fell short at times, I am here to plead the opposite. In my eyes she is pretty perfect, especially in the way she always puts others above her own needs. I must apologize for all of the eye rolls that I have sent her way at some of her requests, but I learned it from the best!Just so you have this in writing you usually know what’s best.
Few if any make me more happy than my mom. Every time I see her I can’t wait to give her a big hug. I know that she supports me and loves me unconditionally. I respect her opinion and value it. Her voice is hallowed in the way it draws my attention. I remember as a child how I would get upset before I had to go to kindergarten and she would comfort me. In those vulnerable moments my mom made me feel whole again. She still has that ability today! Whenever I am feeling a little unsteady in regards to my course or which direction I should go; she is there to put wind in my sails and gives me the confidence to push forward. I will never be able to repay her for all of her selfless love or example that she has showed me.
It is my wish that on her birthday that she has a day completely for her. I want her to know just how special she is. I wouldn’t trade her for anything. Thank you for all the love and wisdom that you have given me. Happy Birthday to the best Mom a boy could ask for!
