A Championship Perspective

Recently I have been extremely happy and content with the way my life has been going, I have a great family, wonderful girl friend, employment, side ventures, basketball and football, and my health. I really have no qualms or reason to complain, sure there are somethings that still get me down on occasion but truthfully I am extremely thankful for the hand that has been dealt to me.

I have always had a problem with looking ahead too much and losing the enjoyment of the process. I love sports and really enjoy seeing a team be crowned champions. Why? Well in order to win a championship it takes a group of talented players and coaches that are willing to sacrifice long hours and at times personal glory. However all of the sacrifices and pain endured is what makes a champion a champion. Victory would not be so sweet if there wasn’t adversity along the way, Sometimes it is debated widely how a team must march through defeat in order to taste success.

Take for example the Golden State Warriors a season ago. They were the best team from day 1 and claimed the Larry O’Brien Trophy at the end of the season, but the Warriors were the laughing stock of the Association for many years prior to winning last year. The current players on the team all endured failure on a team level and individually at some point prior to it all coming together. As the Warriors stand at 5-0 it appears that they are primed to repeat upon last seasons success as they have taken it upon themselves to improve and have a championship perspective each game.

How can we apply a championship perspective in our own lives? It is a simple philosophy but one that takes great discipline and patience’s. Try your absolute best to enjoy each day and become a better version of yourself. If we can gain the mental fortitude needed to improve each day then imagine how much better we would be a month, 6 months, a year, and so forth from now.

At the end of each day when you lay your head down on your pillow and you know that you did something to improve yourself or better yet did something to help someone else become better, then you have had a successful day. Here is a little secret it doesn’t have to be something monumental…it can be something as simple as holding the door for someone, picking up some garbage, helping a friend in need, learning something new, or starting a service project. The is no limit for kindness! I will repeat that there is no limit for kindness.

We are all in this together and can help make our environment better on a social level as well as an environmental level by taking the time to think before acting. We need to ask ourselves are we making the world better for future generations? If the answer is no…what can you do to change that? We all have a responsibility to future generations to ensure that they have the same freedoms we have, and hopefully a better opportunity than those that came before them.

I challenge everyone to have a championship perspective each day and along the way I promise that you will find happiness not only in your life but the lives of those who are around you. Don’t let fear inhibit your actions, instead meet your challenges with optimism. It is always better to look up! Now get out there and start each day with a championship perspective!
