Winter’s Stage

Cold weather has a way of resetting us. It can center us if we allow it. Each season has its time and place. Each season has a meaning both horticulturally as well as internally. Winter is the way of the hermit, it is still, it is a time of reflection.

Winter gives us all the opportunity to turn our thoughts inward to seek out our goals, dreams, and give thanks. Sunlight is limited in the Winter which gives us an opportunity to focus on sleeping consequently allowing us to recharge. It is nature’s way of preparing for Spring’s rebirth. Winter doesn’t have to be a time characterized by cabin fever and depression. We all long for the warmth of Spring’s warm sun and bursts of life, but Spring can be even more enlightening if we make the most of Winter’s preparation.

Taking the time to reflect, recharge, and center ourselves in Winter allows us to blossom by being self-aware. Self-awareness leads to emotional intelligence that equips us with the skills to understand our peers. We can also work together more efficiently. Winter’s chill and nature’s bare exterior doesn’t allow us to hide from our problems. We need to make the most of the season and take the time to overcome our insecurities.

The best way to overcome our shortcoming is to acknowledge them and choose to do something different. Seek change if there is something you do not like in your life. Do not be afraid of mistakes while you are making a change. Errors are part of the process of making a change. Trust the process. Look for others who have had success in making changes. People want to help! They just don’t always know how, so do your best to make it as easy as possible for them!

Winter is in full swing! Each day brings us a little closer to Spring’s rebirth. We too can be renewed come Spring if we take the time to focus on self-improvement. Take the time to reflect and give thanks for all that we have. Take the opportunity to develop a skills or talent that we can have for the rest of our lives. Winter can ground you and give you the needed time to find your purpose. The other seasons will be here before we know it. Don’t miss out on the healing powers of Winter’s gifts.
