I am starting a new series that will be a journal for golf. Golf is something that I have taken more seriously in recent years as I have been trying to maximize my skills to enjoy my time on the golf course more thoroughly. Let’s start with the beginning. I would join my Dad as he went to the driving range as a kid, I remember heading in the car to Hickory Meadows Golf Course, in Whitakers, NC. This course was my first introduction to golf and, unfortunately, is no longer open. There I would watch as he would take the clubs out of his bag and hit that little white ball into an open field, really it was an open field.
Hooked from that moment on golf became a pursuit of trying to become a consistent player and keep my emotions in check. Here I am at 29 years old, and I would say I am about a ten-twelve handicap, typically shooting between 78-84, average about 81. Now my goal is to get to a point where I am breaking 80 consistently, and on a lousy day, I shoot 80. I am getting close to that goal, but not there yet.
Let’s breakdown some stats and my golf profile:
Fourteen clubs housed in a Jones carry bag, straight from Oregon. The contents of the bad vary from some stick-back cash (only like five to ten dollars for emergency pro-shop purchases), extra pair of socks, tees, loose coins, range finder, and golf balls.

Now that we have the lay of the green, we can get started. I will be posting after each round I play, giving a full breakdown of the course I played, the score, room-for improvement, and of course, some good stories about slow place, nature, and the highs and lows of a typical round of golf. Also don’t be surprised to see some articles on upcoming PGA events, and equipment that has caught my eye.
