A Writer’s Haven

Have you ever found yourself in a place that allows you to become completely detached from the world? A location where worries and stress need not apply. Our world has become more tumultuous over time, there are endless ways to become frustrated, and there seems to be constant reminders at every turn. Creativity and self awareness seem to be strangled as we march forward going through our daily paces.

Yet I find myself free at the moment. Currently I am overlooking Balboa Harbor, the stillness of the water and graceful movements of ships remind me that life isnt a race, but a journey. The length of our journey is unknown. When we arrive at the finish line few things will matter. I am confident that we will not be concerned with how much money we made, our social status, or what the the type of job we had. What will be on our minds is how did we treat others? Was I a good son? Husband? Father? Friend? Wife? Mother? Sister?

I truly believe that there is something on the other side at the conclusion of our time here on Earth. Only a few things will we be able to carry on at the conclusion. Our memories, education, experiences, relationships, and friendships are all things that we will be able to carry with us. Don’t sacrifice the opportunity and joy that comes from other people. I can attest that the purest form of happiness comes from family and friends. If you want to double down on that happiness gather your family and friends and do something for someone else!

We all need to find a place from time to time to ground us. Life is simple. Take each day we have and make the absolute best out of it. Each day starts with a sunrise and ends in a sunset. We all have choices that can lead us to happiness or sorrow. Sometimes all it takes is a good attitude and a positive outlook.

Go out and find your haven! A place where you will be reminded of what’s real and what’s not. A place where you can see beyond the here and now! We define our own destiny. We are the masters of our ship. Choose your course wisely.
